watch the downpour coming onward

corissa e. p., may eighth, twenty-thirteen a.d.

dedicated to l. percer, because she loves new england.

watch the downpour coming onward

trudging forward, never fading

watch the droplets turn to streams that

join to rivers, glass windows skating

watch through windows, people run

ever fleeing as thunder breaks

see the lightning, bright as sun

hear the roaring crash it makes

grey is the world outside, and fresh

the downpour fades, now drizzled drops

the smell of rain on window’s latch

the scent of earthen birth and crops-

earth smells as if her wake were nigh

though in true, her ancient face

still slumbers yet with closed eyes

(but soon the spring shall have its place)
